3/21/14 Here we go...
11:11 AM GMT
3/21/14 One last reminder of the teams... Chelsea,
Manchester United, Bayern Munich, Borussia
Dortmund, Real Madrid, Barcelona, PSG,
Atletico Madrid.
11:05 AM GMT
3/21/14 Giorgio Marchetti is now in the spotlight to go
through the technical procedure of the draw.
He reminds us that the draw is completely
open, one pot of eight balls, with the first
team out of the pot on each draw to play the
first leg at home.
11:05 AM GMT
3/21/14 Onto the stage comes the ambassador for this
year's Lisbon final Luis Figo to offer his insight
and assistance with the draw. The former
Portugal winger won the trophy with Real
Madrid in 2002.
11:05 AM GMT
3/21/14 The first leg of the quarters will take place on
April 1/2, with the second leg to follow on
April 8/9/ Not long after, on April 11 to be
precise, Nyon will be the setting for the semi
final draw - which will happen on April 22/23
and 29/30. And of course, the grand finale will
take place on Saturday May 24 at Estadio da
Luz in Lisbon.
11:00 AM GMT
3/21/14 Gianni Infantino has taken the stage in Nyon,
and the 2013-14 Champions League quarter
final draw ceremony has begun!

3/21/14 HUMMELS RARING TO GO
Despite losing the second leg of their round of
16 tie 2-1 at home to Zenit, Dortmund
progressed by a 5-4 aggregate scoreline.
Defender Mats Hummels is up for anything
come the last eight.
"I'd like to play against a team I haven't played
against before in the quarters. Maybe
Manchester United, Barcelona or Chelsea," "At
the end of the day, though, it doesn't matter
who we get – they're all going to be difficult."
Chelsea, Manchester United and Barcelona - all
three have been linked with the German
defender in the past. Speculation much?
10:50 AM GMT
3/21/14 The other English team left in the quarters,
Chelsea, dispatched former player and long
standing hero Didier Drogba and his
Galatasaray side in the previous round. Here's
what manager Jose Mourinho had to say about
his side's prospects in the draw this morning.
"The most difficult opponents you can get in
European football are there. Chelsea are maybe
the most outsider of the group. Maybe us and
Manchester United. "All the big teams are
there. Sometimes in the quarter-finals you
have an outsider. We're very, very calm
because we know what's waiting for us. We are
amongst all the best teams."
10:43 AM GMT
3/21/14 Manchester United of course were the final
team, along with Borussia Dortmund, to reach
the last eight. The Red Devils defied
expectations to overturn a 2-0 first leg defeat
in Greece against Olympiakos, with a Robin van
Persie treble leading them to a 3-0 win at Old
Trafford on Wednesday. And defender Patrice
Evra was in his typically bullish mood following
the turnaround, exclaiming: "Let’s take any
team. When we play with that spirit [against
Olympiakos] we can do something big!"
10:38 AM GMT
3/21/14 Unlike the draw for the preceding round of
16, tonight's quarter final pull is not burdened
by seedings or national association
restrictions. That means that anything, really,
is fair game out of the hat tonight. Repeat of
the 2013 CL final between Bayern and
Dortmund? Quite possibly. Real Madrid and
Atletico Madrid to renew hostilities in El Derbi
Madrileno? Why not!
10:33 AM GMT
3/21/14 Just a reminder of the eight teams remaining in
this year's Champions League...
Chelsea, Manchester United
