John Cena ended Tables, Ladders and Chairs wounded by Randy Orton - and he ended Raw the same way.
The Cenation Leader's Sunday-night tumble into a table dashed his hopes of becoming WWE World Heavyweight Champion, and he was laid out with an RKO 24 hours later whilst assisting Daniel Bryan.
Cena's act of selflessness came about after Orton had punched Bryan in the groin to end their gripping match - which had been sanctioned by The Authority at the start of Monday's show - at an early juncture.
But both the West Newbury Native and submission specialist Bryan surely still have eyes on pinching The Viper's newly-acquired title as the road to the Royal Rumble - live on Sky Sports Box Office on Sunday, January 26 - gathers pace.
Elsewhere on Raw, there was a litany of top-quality tag-team bouts, with the current kings of the division, Cody Rhodes and Goldust, as well as The Real Americans amongst those in action.
Rhodes and Goldust came a cropper against Big Show and Rey Mysterio, and the Real Americans Jack Swagger and Antonio Cesaro were felled by the monstrous tandem of Mark Henry and Intercontinental Champion Big E Langston.
But Ryback and Axel, aka Rybaxel, defeated Tons of Funk - though only after Brodus Clay left his partner Tensai to fend for himself against two of Paul Heyman's former disciples.
Clay refused to be tagged in during the match and then proceeded to pummel Tensai with a catalogue of splashes following the conclusion of the contest - until guest commentators R-Truth and Xavier Woods came to the rescue.
Meanwhile, in a six-man tag brawl, The Shield ironed out any differences they may have been experiencing by overcoming CM Punk - who had earlier engaged in a verbal altercation with Shawn Michaels - and The Shield, with Roman Reigns hitting a stomach-spinning, match-winning spear on The Second City Saint.
Plus, AJ Lee, Tamina Snuka and Alicia Fox outwitted Natalya and The Bella Twins, and Dolph Ziggler gained revenge for his loss to Fandango on the TLC kick-off show by pinning the dancing Supersta
