Costel Pantilimon
Not culpable on the goals and made one great save from Fortune late on. - 00
Micah Richards
A much-improved display after half-time when he could have won a penalty, knocked down the ball for Samir Nasri's goal and curled one narrowly wide. - 00
Joleon Lescott
Inexplicably let the ball run across the goalmouth for Wigan's second goal in a performance that will give City fans no fewer jitters ahead of Barcelona. - 00
Gael Clichy
Too weak on the second goal as he was out-fought by Perch but did well to support the attack, putting in a great ball for Dzeko's header off the post. - 00
Martín Demichelis
Provided yet more ammunition to the critics who say he is an accident waiting to happen. Conceded a penalty clear as day and let McArthur by him for the second. - 00
Samir Nasri
Dragged City back into contention with a leader's goal and was quite often their sole source of creativity through the midfield. - 00
Javi García
In the side to protect the ball and win it back which he did for the most part but was guilty of giving it away and making flat-footed fouls. Lucky his elbow on McManaman went relatively unnoticed. - 00
Jesús Navas González
City's most potent attacking threat in the first half due to his direct running but was sacrificed for Silva as City needed something special. - 00
Yaya Touré Flop of the Match
Perhaps his worst game in a City shirt. Body language was all wrong, booked for a petulant challenge and stormed down the tunnel when he was substituted after the second goal. - 00
Negredo
Pulled out of the firing line by virture of an early substitution but contributed little or nothing to that point. - 00
Sergio Agüero
As usual, City's best attacker peppered Carson with shots but was let down by a lack of quality around him.
Substitutions
- 00
James Milner
Ran the right flank with endeavour after his introduction and provided the discipline needed for Richards to bomb past him. Terrific delivery on a late Dzeko chance. - 00
David Silva
Pulled Wigan players out of position and probed in the final third to no avail. - 00
Edin Dzeko
Focal point of the attack as City went more direct and hit the base of the post with a header. Should have planted his later chance on target.
- 00
Scott Carson
Kept Wigan ahead with some good late saves but would have expected to be an awful lot busier at the Etihad. - 00
Stephen Crainey
Had a tough time keeping tabs on Navas, Richards and Milner but emerged unscathed. - 00
Emmerson Boyce Top of the Match
Made one scarcely believable tackle on Dzeko late on in front of the goaline which typified the dogged Wigan approach in the closing stages. - 00
Iván Ramis
A few uncertain moments in possession in the first half were not enough to undo what was, ultimately, a dsicplined, concentrated showing. - 00
James Perch
Supported the attack only when the situation necessitated and was rewarded for his diligence through the second Wigan goal. - 00
Josh McEachran
Put himself around the midfield with his pressing and needling tackles but was taken off as the inevitable onslaught deepened. - 00
Chris McCann
Expertly played an important tactical role amongst the defesive ranks, often being Wigan's spare man to launch attacks. Injured in a big clash with Ricards. - 00
Jordi Gómez
Took his penalty with consummate ease to put Wigan ahead and was their creative out-ball in the first half. - 00
James McArthur
Made a terrific contribution for Wigan's second goal, jinking through the backline and cutting the ball back. - 00
Callum McManaman
His direct running and inventiveness baited some of the City contingent into rash challenges. Set Wigan's stall out with a run at the heart of the defence straight from kick-off. - 00
Marc-Antoine Fortune
Played the role of lone frontman to perfection in the first half and beat Demichelis all ends up to win the penalty. Could have put gloss on the victory late on.
Substitutions
- 00
Leon Barnett
Came on for the injured McCann and was pressed every deeper once City went two behind. - 00
James McClean
Brought on to relieve McManaman after a hard shift and tried to stretch City by remaining tight to the touchline.
