AC MILLAN YAMTANGAZA SEEDORF KUWA KOCHA WAO RASMI

AC Milan announce Seedorf arrival

AC Milan have confirmed that Clarence Seedorf will arrive in Italy on Wednesday ahead of his presentation as the club's new coach.

The San Siro side parted company with Massimiliano Allegri on Monday due to the Serie A side's disappointing performances in 2013-14 and Seedorf announced just 24 hours later that he had called time on his playing career in order to take charge of the Rossoneri with immediate effect.

The Dutchman is now expected to land at Linate airport in Milan at 18:40CET on Wednesday.

"There is great anticipation today ahead of the arrival of Clarence Seedorf in Milan as a new adventure is set to begin. See you soon Clarence!" reads a brief statement on the official Rossoneri website.

Meanwhile, club legend Marco van Basten has questioned the club's decision to appoint Seedorf as their new head coach.

"They have opted for Seedorf, which makes sense in some way, but is also a big risk," the former Milan striker told NOS.

"You never know how he will cope with the situation and solve things. It's not the wisest thing to do in my opinion, but I'm not the one making the decision."

Van Basten then went on to stress that there a number of aspects that speak in Seedorf's favour as well, before comparing his compatriot's situation to his own first steps into coaching as Netherlands boss in 2004.

"He is fluent in Italian and has enjoyed a long and successful career. Those are important things, too," he reasoned.

"The difference with my own situation is that he's going straight into coaching after hanging up his boots. I completely left the game after retiring and then had to make a comeback."

Van Basten wore the Milan jersey between 1987 and 1995, when he was forced to retire due to injury after two years on the sidelines.
