  Made a fine early save from Young at 0-0 to set the tone for a tidy display although his overconfidence with a Grobelaar-style dribble on his goal-line drew the derision of Mourinho. Could do little to keep out Chicharito's goal.

  Januzaj got the better of him on a few occasions, but stood firm and was a solid presence.

  Has the energy of a labrador puppy and the teeth of a rottweiler as he demonstrated again why he is such a signficant part of the Chelsea puzzle. Barely put a foot wrong in the centre before moving to the right flank following Mikel's introduction.

  Fully vindicated his selection ahead of Torres by becoming the first Chelsea player to score a hat-trick against United in 60 years. Shimmied smartly past Jones to set himself up for his curled opener and followed up with two trademark poacher's strikes on an unforgettable afternoon for the Cameroon legend.

  A disastrous day for the United skipper. Red-carded in added time after stupidly hacking down Hazard. Looked ill at ease whenever Chelsea's young thrusters ran at the United defence, and failed to get close enough to Eto'o for the home side's second goal.
